The New York Yankees would be doomed if this Aaron Judge rumor ends up being true.
New York Yankees superstar Aaron Judge has missed the last three games due to what is currently being called a bone bruise in his rib cage, an injury that apparently started as a shoulder issue and then worsened.
The problem? The Yankees don't seem to have any clue what is actually wrong with Judge, and the fact that he saw Dr. Gregory Pearl, who specializes in thoracic outlet syndrome, is absolutely terrifying.
If the tests Pearl conducted reveal that Judge does, in fact, have TOS, he will almost certainly be sidelined for the remainder of the 2026 campaign. And if that ends up happening? New York's window in its current state could completely close.
Let's hope that Judge is perfectly fine and that this really is just a very nasty bruise. Not for the team's sake, but for his sake. Thoracic outlet syndrome is very serious, so the captain's health is obviously the most important factor in all of this.
But in the worst-case scenario, the Yankees might actually be done. Not just for this season, but for the next several, as well. At least as currently constructed.

The Yanks are an old team, and while there are bits of youth smattered about the roster, their core is definitely on the elder side, and you have to wonder just how much longer it will last.
Thoracic outlet syndrome could absolutely damage careers. Just ask Matt Harvey and Stephen Strasburg. Yes, they were both pitchers, and this is an issue that does typically affect pitchers rather than position players. But remember that Mike Zunino — a former All-Star first baseman — had his career end because of it, as well.
So if this does end up being the case for Judge, then his MLB career absolutely could be in jeopardy. And even if he returns just fine in 2027, that would mean the Yankees just wasted one more year of his prime.
New York is waiting on the results of Judge's MRI and is holding its collective breath. If it comes back clean, then perhaps a brief IL stint will be all the three-time MVP needs to recover. If it doesn't? Then the Yankees could be in absolute baseball hell.
