The Hot Stove is heating up, but the New York Yankees have yet to make any major moves this offseason.
As Brian Cashman and the rest of the front office mull over what moves they should make this winter, here are three priorities the Yankees might consider.
Gerritt Cole might not be ready on Opening Day. Carlos Rodon has struggled with consistency. Luis Gil missed over half the year with an injury. What will Cam Schlittler look like over a full season of work?
The only sure-fire thing in New York’s rotation right now is Max Fried.
One of New York’s big downfalls in the playoffs was their rotation, with their starting pitchers posting an ERA of 5.19 in seven playoff games. With an offensive talent as good as Aaron Judge on the roster, the rotation can’t be what holds the Yankees back in October.
Cody Bellinger had a respectable season in his first year in pinstripes. He ended up with a slashline of .272/.334/.480, including 29 home runs.
Opposing teams will find value in a 30-year-old elite defender who just had an OPS of .813, but the Yankees must make sure he’s back in the Bronx next season.
New York’s outfield suspect as it is. Can Trent Grisham repeat his 34 home run season? Will Spencer Jones or Jasson Dominguez ever live up to the hype? At what point will Aaron Judge start being more of a designated hitter than an everyday outfielder?
The Yankees need consistency in the outfield, and Bellinger provides that, making bringing him back a top priority for the front office.

That said, the Yankees are trying to win a World Series, and Volpe has undeniably been a liability at times.
This offseason is the time to either commit to Volpe for the future or move on and find a new middle infielder to pair with Jazz Chisolm.
