Goodyear will bring familiar tire setups for NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series teams at this weekend’s races at the Circuit of The Americas (COTA), the first road course of the season.
Cup Series teams will use the same Goodyear Racing Eagle tire setup that debuted at COTA last season and was subsequently raced at each of the five other road courses on last year’s schedule. O’Reilly Auto Parts Series teams will run the road course tire Goodyear introduced for last season’s July race at Sonoma Raceway, which also saw action at Watkins Glen International, Portland International Raceway and the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL.
“Teams in the NASCAR Cup Series and O’Reilly Auto Parts Series are already familiar with the Goodyear Racing Eagle road course tires we’ve brought to COTA, which will help them plan their race strategies,” said Justin Fantozzi, Goodyear’s Director of Racing for the Americas. “That consistency gives teams the benefit of a detailed notebook on this tire and a strong understanding of how it responds over the course of a run.”
The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series will compete Saturday afternoon on the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida, where the series will race on the street course for the first time. Craftsman Truck Series teams will run the same tire as the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series at COTA, a setup they used last season at Watkins Glen and the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL.
Teams in all three series also have wet-weather tires available if required.
