The three-time champion crushed a 45-race winless streak at North Wilkesboro, dominating 323 laps to vault above The Chase cutline and reignite Ford’s struggling season with authority
NORTH WILKESBORO, N.C. — You can never count out Joey Logano.
The three-time Cup Series champion ended a long 45-race winless streak Sunday night with a dominating performance in the Window World 400 at North Wilkesboro Speedway.
Logano led 323 of the 450 laps and looked like the best car on the track from start to finish. He walked away with 73 points and, more importantly, jumped from below the cutline to +49 above it for The Chase.
This wasn’t just any win. It was the first victory for any Ford driver not named Ryan Blaney since Logano’s last trip to Victory Lane at Texas back in May 2025. That says a lot about how things have been going for the Blue Oval this season.
Ford hasn’t been very strong lately, but when everything clicks for Penske, they can still be really dangerous.
Logano has taken a ton of heat over the years. A lot of people brush off his three championships because he won them under the old playoff format.
That’s fine if that’s how you want to view it, but you can’t deny the guy’s talent.
Sunday’s win was his 38th career Cup victory. That’s no fluke.
He’s a proven winner who knows how to close races out when the car is right.
For most of this season, Logano and the No. 22 team have been fighting an uphill battle. But back-to-back dominating wins for Team Penske — first Blaney last week, now Logano this week — shows what this organization is capable of when things finally come together.
They’ve got the speed. They’ve got the drivers. They just haven’t had everything click at the same time very often this year.
This win was huge for Logano’s confidence and his Chase position. He’s now safely above the cutline, but he still has a long way to go if he wants to be a real championship threat.
One win doesn’t fix everything, especially when you’ve been inconsistent for most of the season. Now the pressure is on him and the team to prove that what we saw Sunday wasn’t just a one-off.
North Wilkesboro has always been a special place, and getting a win in the first points race there since 1996, has to feel extra sweet. This was a big relief for Logano and everybody at Penske.
The drought is over. But one win doesn’t make a championship contender.
They need to take the momentum from the last two weeks and turn it into consistent, week-in and week-out performance.
Logano did his part on Sunday. He drove the heck out of that race car and left no doubt. Now it’s on Ford and Team Penske to keep building on what they’ve shown the last couple of weeks.
If they can do that, this could end up being a turning point in the season for both Logano and the manufacturer.
Never count out Joey Logano.
He just reminded everyone why he’s a three-time champion and why he’s still one of the best in the game when the car is right.
