The Philadelphia 76ers were blown out by the Charlotte Hornets and forward Brandon Miller on Monday.

*CORRECTION: Philadelphia Lost 130-93*

The Philadelphia 76ers (24-21) were destroyed by the Charlotte Hornets (19-28) 130-93 on Monday. It's worth noting Joel Embiid and Paul George were sidelined for Philadelphia.

Here's a look at four major takeaways from Monday's loss:

1. Brandon Miller Erupts

With rather quiet games from the backcourt of LaMelo Ball and Kon Knueppel, Miller stepped up big time. He finished the game with 30 points, eight rebounds, two assists, and two steals on 75% shooting and 6 of 9 shooting from three-point range in just 27 minutes of action.

His best stretch of the game by far came in the third quarter, where Charlotte outscored Philadelphia 40-15. In nine minutes of play in the third, he put up 19 points on 6 of 7 shooting, as the 76ers' post-halftime struggles continue.

2. Tyrese Maxey's Woeful Stretch Continues

Maxey was called upon to play superhero but was unable to do so. He had one of his worst performances of the season against the Hornets, recording just six points, seven assists, two rebounds, and a steal on 3 of 12 shooting in 25 minutes. This game was always going to be an uphill battle with Embiid and George absent, but few expected Maxey to crumble.

He is having far and away the top campaign of his career, but has tallied more than 30 points just once in their last seven matchups.

3. Kelly Oubre Jr. Continues To Prove Why He Doesn't Belong In Trade Conversations

There are plenty of players on the Sixers' roster who have heard their name come up in trade rumors over the past few months. Oubre has been one of those contributors but continues to silence those conversations with his stellar play.

Oubre tallied 17 points, two rebounds, and two steals on 58.3% shooting in just 25 minutes. If Daryl Morey and company were seriously pondering the idea of moving on from Oubre at the trade deadline, it may be time to reconsider.

4. Jared McCain Had An Opportunity To "Stretch His Legs"

It's been quite a while since McCain last saw solid minutes on an NBA floor, but the blowout defeat gave him a chance to get some touches. He was aggressive in his 23 minutes of play, concluding the afternoon with 16 points, three rebounds, and three assists on 6 of 13 shooting and 50% shooting from three-point range.

No one is quite sure how 76ers coach Nick Nurse will use McCain moving forward, but it was refreshing to see him on the floor early in the matchup (three minutes played in the first quarter).
