A look at four key takeaways from the Philadelphia 76ers' Sunday night win against the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Philadelphia 76ers defeated the Portland Trail Blazers 109-103 on Sunday evening.

Here’s a look at key takeaways from the game:

Quentin Grimes Is Giving 76ers Fans Déjà Vu

With Philadelphia’s ‘Big Three’ of Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid, and Paul George sidelined, someone needs to step up. So far that player is Grimes, who is having eerily similar performances to what he had down the stretch of the 2024-2025 season.

He finished the night as the 76ers’ leading scorer with 31 points on 50% shooting to go along with three rebounds, two assists, and three steals in 40 minutes of action. The 25-year-old helped seal the game for the Sixers, scoring 14 points in the final quarter.

V.J. Edgecombe Is Finally Being More Aggressive

Although Grimes has been the star of the show with others out, most 76ers fans, along with the coaching staff, are likely hoping Edgecombe comes alive as the No. 1 option.

The good news is he’s actively looking to score, as he attempted 18 shots against the Blazers. He made eight of his shots, tallying 18 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, and two blocks.

Deni Avdija Continues To Prove Why He Was Worthy Of An All-Star Selection

Avdija did his best to will Portland to a win but simply came up short. The first-time All-Star recorded 25 points, nine assists, and six rebounds on 36.8% shooting and inefficient shooting from three-point range (2 of 12).

There's a strong possibility that if guard Shaedon Sharpe played, the Blazers would have walked away from this matchup victorious.

Justin Edwards Has Been A Pleasant Surprise For Philadelphia

With all the injuries to the 76ers’ rotation, a plethora of players who don’t usually receive hefty minutes have gotten opportunities to shine. This includes Edwards, who is taking full advantage of his chance to start. He concluded Sunday’s game with 21 points, two assists, two rebounds, and two steals on 64.3% shooting in 25 minutes played.
