Here are some major observations from the Philadelphia 76ers' Wednesday night win over the Chicago Bulls.
The Philadelphia 76ers (40-33) defeated the Chicago Bulls (29-43) on Wednesday night, 157-137.
Here's a look at some observations from Philadelphia's victory:
Welcome Back Joel Embiid
After missing 13 consecutive games due to a right oblique strain, Embiid made his return to the floor against Chicago. He picked up right where he left off, finishing the game with 35 points, seven assists, and six rebounds on 70.6% shooting and 3 of 3 shooting from three-point range in just 28 minutes of action.
The 76ers are an entirely different team when Embiid plays. It's huge that he returned when he did, as Philadelphia has two important matchups against the Charlotte Hornets and Miami Heat coming up.
Paul George Wasted No Time Shaking Off The Rust
George returned from his 25-game suspension for violating the NBA's anti-drug policy on Wednesday. At first, it appeared he had some serious rust to knock off, as the 35-year-old forward scored 5 points on 2 of 10 shooting in the first half.
However, George came alive in the second half. He recorded 23 points on 9 of 12 shooting to go along with two steals and a block. This means he concluded the evening with 28 points, six rebounds, four assists, and four steals on 50% shooting in 26 minutes played.
VJ Edgecombe Can Thrive Even With Philly's Stars Back
Fans were a bit nervous Edgecombe would be forced into a backseat role with Embiid and George back in the lineup. Instead, his streak of strong production continued, as he tallied 22 points, six rebounds, and six assists on 77.8% shooting.
It's tough to say how many touches Edgecombe will find once Tyrese Maxey and Kelly Oubre Jr. return, but for now, the rookie guard continues to shine.
Playoff Teams Should Be Terrified To Play The 76ers
The 76ers aren't even back to full strength yet, but they were still able to dominate the Bulls. There's a scenario where Philadelphia moves up to the No. 5 or 6 seed in the Eastern Conference before the end of the regular season. If so, the Cleveland Cavaliers and New York Knicks should be terrified to face a healthy Sixers team in Round 1.
