The Philadelphia 76ers (32-26) comfortably took down the Indiana Pacers (15-44) on Tuesday night, 135-114.
Coming off one of his better performances of the season against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Philadelphia All-Star guard Tyrese Maxey maintained a similar level of play. He recorded a near triple-double, tallying 32 points, nine rebounds, eight assists, and two steals on 10 of 22 shooting in 32 minutes.
It's worth noting Maxey's efficiency from the outside continues to raise concerns, as he shot just 2 of 8 from three-point range. Still, he is acting as the No. 1 option for Philadelphia with Joel Embiid and Paul George in and out of the rotation.
76ers superstar center Embiid wasted no time shaking off the rust, as this was his first appearance since Feb. 7 against the Phoenix Suns. He finished the game with 27 points, six rebounds, and five assists on 64.7% shooting in 26 minutes of action.
Embiid's playmaking chops were on display throughout the matchup, as he draws immense attention from the defense, which often allows him to find the open man. Defensively, he appeared a bit sluggish at times in the paint but held up well for not playing in over two weeks.
Rookie phenom V.J. Edgecombe also built off a strong outing against Minnesota, scoring 23 points to go along with seven rebounds and four assists.
The Sixers' second unit was led by guard Quentin Grimes, who is beginning to find a groove. Grimes had a strong showing versus the Timberwolves, following that up with 15 points on 6 of 11 shooting against the Pacers. Forward Trendon Watford also had quite a strong performance, recording 12 points, four rebounds, and two blocks on 6 of 7 shooting.
For the Pacers, it was second string center Micah Potter who led the way. He concluded the evening with 23 points and three rebounds on 81.8% shooting. Starting guard Andrew Nembhard also finished with 23 points.
The 76ers now enter Thursday's crucial game against the Miami Heat with two consecutive wins under their belt. The Heat are only a few games behind Philadelphia in the Eastern Conference standings.
