The Philadelphia 76ers (31-26) are taking on the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday night at 7 PM ET.
Here is a look at four keys to success for Philadelphia:
It sounds obvious, but the last time the 76ers went against a bottom feeder, they lost by 15 points. New Orleans was incredibly efficient from three-point range against Philadelphia, knocking down 50% of their attempts (17 of 34). The other key reason the Pelicans were able to emerge victorious is because they outscored the Sixers 40-26 in the third quarter.
If Philadelphia is able to play solid perimeter defense and prevent a big run late in the game, it should be an easy win.
The 76ers' Sunday night win over the Minnesota Timberwolves is a prime example of what Maxey is capable of. He finished with 39 points and eight assists on 57.1% shooting and 4 of 7 shooting from three-point range.
Prior to this matchup, he had greatly struggled with his efficiency, especially from the outside. Maxey shouldn't need to surpass 40 points to take down this shorthanded Pacers team, but being efficient with his shots is crucial.
Embiid is questionable to play against the Pacers, but if he does, his return should be dominant. The Pacers are without star big man Ivica Zubac and likely without Pascal Siakam as well. This leaves Jay Huff and Jarace Walker in the frontcourt for Indiana, so Embiid should be able to take full advantage of the weak defense.
The 76ers have an important game against the Miami Heat on Thursday, so if this game begins getting out of reach, Maxey and company need to head to the bench. This will also allow second-unit guard Quentin Grimes to build on his strong performance against Minnesota.
