Nicolas Batum recently talked about how much he wanted to play more with Sixers guard Tyrese Maxey. How would the two play together if Batum decided to stay in Philly?

17-year NBA veteran Nicolas Batum recently offered high praise for Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey, calling it one of his only career regrets that he didn't get to spend more time playing alongside him.

As Batum put it, "If I have one regret, I wish I could have played longer with him [Tyrese Maxey]."

This quote speaks volumes about Batum's appreciation of the player Maxey has become.

Maxey has rapidly developed into one of the most dynamic guards in the league. Known for his elite combination of explosiveness and shooting, Maxey has improved every year he has been in the league, and now he has fully blossomed as a cornerstone player for the 76ers.

During their brief time together on the Philadelphia 76ers, Batum's role was clear: provide defense, spacing, and a veteran presence. Even in a limited stint, his impact was felt. Batum is the kind of player who doesn't need the ball to influence the game. He makes smart reads, moves the ball quickly, and plays solid defense. Those traits would be very valuable on a current Sixers roster that needs wings who can do the dirty work on both sides of the court.

If Batum were on today's team, his fit with Maxey would be perfect. Maxey thrives when he has the space to play downhill and put pressure on the defense. Batum's ability to space the floor and make quick decisions would enhance that. Additionally, Batum's defensive versatility would help address some of their defensive weaknesses, allowing Maxey to conserve more energy for offense.

Beyond the on-court fit, there's also the intangible aspect. Batum's veteran presence and high basketball IQ could serve as a stabilizing force for a team eager to make a deep playoff run. His understanding of the game and willingness to embrace his role are qualities that playoff teams rely on.

In many ways, Batum's comments highlight how respected Maxey has become across the league. While their time together was short, it's clear it had an impact on Batum as he wonders what could've been had he chosen a different path.
