It's safe to say the Philadelphia 76ers made the right decision by selecting former Baylor guard V.J. Edgecombe with the No. 3 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
The 20-year-old is averaging 15.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.9 assists on 42.3% shooting and 34.5% shooting from three-point range in 62 games played for Philadelphia this season. While he hasn't come alive the way fans were hoping with the 76ers' stars sidelined, he remains integral to their success.
If drafting one Baylor guard panned out so well, why not try their luck with another? USA Today's new mock draft sees the 76ers select Baylor guard Cameron Carr with the No. 22 pick.
"One of the players who has improved his draft stock the most since the season began is Baylor junior Cameron Carr," USA Today's Bryan Kalbrosky wrote. "The All-Big 12 wing is able to dunk and shoot from beyond the arc at a high clip and, per Bart Torvik, is currently the only player to make more than 40 field goals that were dunks and more than 50 field goals that were 3-pointers so far this season."
Carr is in his third collegiate season and first with the Bears, as he spent his first two years with Tennessee. He has blossomed with Baylor, averaging 19.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.7 assists on 51.0% shooting in 32 appearances.
Kalbrosky continued, "Baylor has outscored opponents by an additional 28.5 points per 100 possessions when he is on the floor relative to when he is not, via CBB Analytics, which ranks as the fourth-most of any high-major player in the NCAA."
The 6-foot-5, 175-pound guard could see real minutes right away if drafted by Philadelphia. This is because if Quentin Grimes walks in free agency this offseason, the only guards under contract for the 76ers are Tyrese Maxey and Edgecombe.
With his elite combination of shooting and athleticism, Carr would be a phenomenal fit on the 76ers.
