A recent mock draft from CBS Sports has the Philadelphia 76ers selecting a Duke Blue Devils forward with the No. 24 pick.

The Philadelphia 76ers have a first-round pick in this year's draft because of the trade that sent Jared McCain to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The 76ers acquired the Houston Rockets' 2026 first-round pick, along with three second-round picks, in exchange for McCain. While the Rockets are likely to finish the season as a playoff team in the Western Conference, the 2026 NBA Draft is projected to be one of the deepest in recent memory.

Philadelphia, of course, won't be able to get their hands on a superstar talent such as AJ Dybantsa or Darryn Peterson, but a pick in the mid-20s could supply a solid player.

In CBS Sports' latest mock draft, the 76ers select Duke sophomore forward Isaiah Evans with the No. 24 pick.

"Evans provides floor spacing and size around Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid," CBS Sports' Adam Finkelstein wrote.

Evans is a 6-foot-6, 180-pound sophomore who splits his minutes between the backcourt and small forward position. This season with the Blue Devils, he is averaging 14.7 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.2 assists on 43.1% shooting and 36.1% shooting from three-point range.

His offensive game is highlighted by his ability to space the floor, as he can consistently knock down shots from the outside. This style of play would be a perfect fit in Philadelphia, as Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey oftentimes control the offense by attacking the rim or drawing attention in the mid-range.

Defensively, Evans relies on his impressive length as well as his tenacity. This is perhaps the biggest difference between him and the 76ers' 2024 draft pick out of Duke, McCain. Both are impressive shooters from the arc, but Evans' size and desire to compete defensively could make him a more intriguing long-term piece for Philadelphia.

If Evans is available when the 76ers are on the clock, considering him as their selection is absolutely the right move.
