Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey is set to compete in the three-point contest.

Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey is in the midst of the best season of his NBA career.

Maxey is averaging 28.8 points, 6.9 assists, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.0 steals on 47% shooting in 50 appearances for Philadelphia this season. Because of his level of play, the 25-year-old was selected as an All-Star starter for the first time in his career. This will mark his second All-Star Game appearance, but it won't be the only event he's participating in this year.

The NBA announced on Sunday afternoon Maxey has been selected to compete in the 2026 State Farm 3-Point Contest.

He is joined by Phoenix Suns' Devin Booker, Charlotte Hornets' Kon Knueppel, Portland Trail Blazers' Damian Lillard, Cleveland Cavaliers' Donovan Mitchell, Denver Nuggets' Jamal Murray, Milwaukee Bucks' Bobby Portis Jr., and Miami Heat's Norman Powell.

The most shocking name on this list is two-time winner of the event, Lillard, who is expected to miss the entire 2025-2026 season with a torn Achilles.

Maxey is well deserving of this selection, as he is knocking down 38.2% of his shots from three-point range on 8.8 attempts per game this year.

It's worth noting he's in a bit of a slump from the arc as of late, shooting just 3 of 10 from deep in Saturday's win over the Phoenix Suns. In the game prior to that, a loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, he shot just 1 of 9 from three-point range.

Maxey is not the only player representing the 76ers at All-Star Weekend, as rookie guard V.J. Edgecombe is taking part in Rising Stars. Edgecombe was selected to Team Vince (coached by Hall of Famer Vince Carter) in the first round of the Rising Stars draft.

Many believe a third player from Philadelphia's roster should be joining Maxey and Edgecombe in Los Angeles. That player being Joel Embiid, who was not selected as an All-Star reserve despite stellar play in recent months. His slow start to the season was likely the reason he wasn't chosen.

The 76ers take on the Portland Trail Blazers Monday night, where Maxey will hopefully break out of his outside shooting slump prior to the event.
