A Philadelphia 76ers insider breaks down LeBron James' potential fit within the organization.
The LeBron James free agency sweepstakes has everyone in the NBA world talking.
The Philadelphia 76ers are considered among serious suitors for James, so it shouldn't be a surprise that an insider is discussing the 22-time All-Star's possible fit with the organization.
The Athletic's Tony Jones shared his opinion on James potentially coming to the 76ers.
"It makes sense from a basketball sense. The Sixers have one of the best groups of 4 in the league... LeBron can come to Philadelphia and slot pretty seamlessly into the PF spot," Jones said, per 97.5 The Fanatic. "You have your innings eater now in Jaylen Brown... If you are LeBron, you can kind of coast and get your body ready for a postseason run."
The fit in Philadelphia is seamless, assuming the 41-year-old is comfortable with a backseat role. James, one of the best playmakers of all-time, would have a plethora of talented pieces around him to dish the ball to. Although he would be listed at the '4' with the Sixers, it wouldn't be a surprise to see the four-time NBA champion facilitating the offense.
And from a competitive standpoint, no starting lineup in the league could match the talent of a group of Tyrese Maxey, V.J. Edgecombe, Jaylen Brown, James, and Joel Embiid.
Jones continued, "But I don't think it will come down to all of that. It will come down to some other factors. And those are factors that only LeBron, Rich Paul, and those close to him are going to surmise. The best that the Sixers can do is put their hat in the ring... They have made it clear they are interested. It is just going to come down to what LeBron is comfortable with."
This is the unfortunate reality for the 76ers. Almost everything in their control to turn themselves into an appealing destination for James is done. Now, it simply comes down to where he wants to finish out his illustrious career.
