In a recent article by Heavy, the Sixers are projected to land guard Christian Anderson. Would the Texas Tech sharpshooter fit on the 76ers' roster?

In a new mock draft from Heavy, the 76ers are projected to select Texas Tech guard Christian Anderson, a prospect who could address several of Philadelphia's long-term needs.

Anderson has quickly emerged as one of the more intriguing guards in the 2026 draft class. He projects as a lead guard who is capable of running an offense at a high level. Anderson has deep shooting range, is a great decision-maker in the pick and roll, and is comfortable playing on and off the ball.

What stands out the most when you watch Anderson is his play in the pick-and-roll. Not only is he capable of reading the defense and scoring, but his playmaking and passing are some of the best this draft class has to offer. Unexpected lob passes, skip passes, and finding the open man cross-court when he's doubled, the freshman possesses a variety of ways to get the ball to his teammates; this will help him out a lot on the next level.

For the Sixers, someone with this skillset would be very valuable.

With Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid established as the primary scorers, adding another guard who can create for others and space the floor would bring balance to the backcourt. Anderson can be effective on and off the ball. This versatility makes him a great complementary piece alongside ball-dominant players.

However, there are some concerns.

Anderson is hardly unathletic. When you watch him play, the body control, stop-and-start speed, and dexterity he has are all on display. However, he lacks the lateral quickness and explosive first step that guards at the next level tend to have in spades. This could present issues on the offensive and defensive side of the ball.

Still, his offensive upside is some of the highest in the class.

Anderson fits the mold of a modern NBA guard. Skilled, efficient, fluid, and capable of scoring and setting up his teammates. For a Sixers team whose best players are high-usage scorers, adding someone who can increase the ceiling of an offense without needing the ball is very valuable.

If Philly is looking to add another creator to its backcourt, Christian Anderson will be a name to watch.
