It urns out one remaining free agent is looking to join the Philadelphia 76ers.

Free agency has come and gone, but there are still plenty of players left to choose from. While the Philadelphia 76ers are pretty set, it doesn’t hurt to add another piece to the puzzle.

As of late it has been reported that former Utah Jazz forward Kevin Love has been in talks with the 76ers for another chance to play with future Hall of Famer LeBron James. Both players were teammates on the Cleveland Cavaliers, where they came back from a 3-1 deficit to beat the Golden State Warriors for the NBA Championship in 2016.

This could be a move that’s beneficial for the team considering how they are at the forward position. Adding a player like Love helps not only with depth but also with veteran leadership. The last time Love stepped on the court was for the Jazz. In 16.6 minutes per game, he recorded 6.7 points and 5.8 rebounds.

Entering his 19th season, it’s going to be hard to see Love getting valuable minutes. He’s nearing 40, and he’ll be relegated to standing in the corner for a three. Furthermore, who is to say Philadelphia would be interested?

If the team is willing to make this move, then that means they have to let someone go to add him to the roster. The next move afterwards is to make sure it keeps them under the apron so there's no financial casualty.  Love may nester the Udonis Haslem role, where he may not see much playing time but be the glue for the entire roster and keep everyone focused on the task at hand.

Experience is great to have, but if you’re not going in beyond garbage time, is it worth a roster spot? Sure, they may use Love in the postseason, but that’s so far away it doesn’t make sense to sign him now.

The saving grace for the former All-Star is his relationship with James. The chemistry they built in Cleveland will give him a good chance of being added to the team. Love is still able to be a stretch five and, for all intents and purposes, create some mismatches. But it has to be in the right situation.

Philadelphia has big aspirations this year, and every move that they make will be key. So maybe adding a player like Kevin Love would be beneficial.  It’s an important decision and one that could have a positive or negative impact for the team.
