Philadelphia 76ers All-Star guard Tyrese Maxey and superstar forward LeBron James were filmed getting a workout together on the court.
This is great to see as new star forward Jaylen Brown recently discussed how it takes a unit to win, and everyone is selfless and just wants to gel as a team. It may be small to some, but this is very important to build a rapport with one another.
In the video it appears that Maxey and James are working on their post-game when the shot clock is running down. The big man is an essentially lost art, but that doesn’t mean the post moves are a thing of the past. In today's game everyone wants to be a shooter; it’s hard to find guys who have actual post moves. It also speaks to Maxey’s desire to improve his game even though he’s coming off an All-NBA season.
It’s normal to see some players get together and have a scrimmage game or build some camaraderie by going to a game or some type of outing. It’s rare to get video of players actually working out together, at least publicly.
It’s a new time here for basketball fans in Philadelphia. It’s a breath of fresh air when you know that there’s an actual chance to win. While the team may have had winning seasons, it always ended in disappointment. But now, with all these new players, it’s like a brand-new car; you can imagine the possibilities.
James has given this organization hope. Everyone has been a ray of sunshine since acquiring the former Laker. There's hope that even through all the ups and downs in Los Angeles, he can do the one thing that matters, and that’s adding a new trophy to the trophy case. It all starts here, with the workout video. This is where the teachings begin. Understanding how each other thinks, what their strengths and weaknesses are, and how they can improve for the better.
Maxey will be second in command when it comes to being a floor general. If those two can get on the same page early, it’ll make it easier to communicate things with the rest of the team.
