The Philadelphia 76ers landed an absolute steal in Alabama's Labaron Philon Jr. with the No. 22 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.
Philon is one of the most talented offensive prospects in the class, but his size and defensive woes were likely the cause for his slip. Still, it's a phenomenal selection by Philadelphia's revamped front office highlighted by Mike Gansey and Jameer Nelson.
Here's an updated look at the 76ers' depth chart after selecting Philon:
PG: Tyrese Maxey, Labaron Philon Jr., Kyle Lowry (unrestricted free agent)
SG: V.J. Edgecombe, Quentin Grimes (unrestricted free agent), Dalen Terry
SF: Paul George, Justin Edwards, Trendon Watford
PF: Kelly Oubre Jr. (unrestricted free agent), Dominick Barlow, Jabari Walker, Johni Broome
C: Joel Embiid, Andre Drummond (unrestricted free agent), Adem Bona
The Sixers' starting lineup is one of the most dangerous in the Eastern Conference when healthy, as Maxey, George, and Embiid are All-Star/All-NBA-caliber players. Edgecombe is expected to take a serious leap in his sophomore season, hopefully in the areas of efficiency, defense, and playmaking.
Oubre and Grimes are Philadelphia's most important free agents, and it's entirely possible the front office is able to retain both.
That would create one of the most offensively dynamic backup guard rooms in the league. Philon averaged 22.0 points on efficient shooting splits in his sophomore season with the Crimson Tide while Grimes recorded 13.4 points per game in the 2025-2026 campaign.
Oubre is a versatile forward who paired nicely with George in the postseason, especially against the Boston Celtics' superstar duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. He averaged 14.1 points on 46.7% shooting and 36.0% shooting from three-point range this past season.
If Drummond walks in free agency, it's not a massive loss, as the 76ers can either replace him or hand over the backup job to Bona.
Health will once again define Philadelphia's season, but the selection of Philon will likely help Maxey have more rest and less pressure on him during the regular season.
