Former Philadelphia 76ers wing Kelly Oubre Jr. is signing with the Indiana Pacers.
Two of the Philadelphia 76ers' three key free agents have now signed elsewhere.
First, it was Quentin Grimes landing with the Los Angeles Lakers on a four-year, $60 million contract. Now, Kelly Oubre Jr. is agreeing to a two-year, nearly $17 million deal with the Indiana Pacers, per ESPN's Shams Charania.
"Free agent forward Kelly Oubre Jr. has agreed to a two-year, nearly $17 million deal to sign with the Indiana Pacers, sources tell ESPN," Charania posted to X. "The Pacers pick up a productive wing after finalizing a deal with Oubre and his agent Dave Spahn of CAA Sports moments ago."
Oubre is a great addition for a Pacers team that reached the NBA Finals in 2025. With All-Star point guard Tyrese Haliburton returning to the floor next season, Indiana's goal is undoubtedly to rejoin the group of title contenders in the Eastern Conference.
The former 76ers forward will help the Pacers achieve that.
Oubre will likely slot into the starting small forward position for the Pacers alongside Haliburton, Andrew Nembhard, Pascal Siakam, and Ivica Zubac.
He averaged 14.1 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.4 steals on 46.7% shooting and 36.0% shooting from three-point range in 50 games last season. Oubre spent the last three seasons as a key contributor to the 76ers' rotation, but he now heads to Indiana on a team-friendly deal.
This is a major loss for the 76ers, as Oubre was impactful on both ends of the floor, especially against the Boston Celtics in the NBA Playoffs. Still, Philadelphia's need for another guard likely outweighed the desire to bring back the 30-year-old. The Sixers' forward room will primarily consist of Paul George, Justin Edwards, Dean Wade, and Dominick Barlow.
With Oubre and Grimes gone, it's clear President of Basketball Operations Mike Gansey is more than happy with shaking up the roster.
