Former LeBron James Teammates Praises 76ers' Roster

It’s refreshing when you hear players admire their adversaries off the court. When current and former NBA players look at the current state of the NBA, it seems there’s a consensus on who could win an NBA title.

The Philadelphia 76ers have everyone looking to them as the odds on favorites to accomplish their goal of hoisting the Larry O’Brien trophy. A former teammate of LeBron James took time out to speak on the future Hall of Famer and how much this new roster could be the one.

D’Angelo Russell feels that this 76ers team has the chance to do something special. In his rant, he talked about the scoring possibilities and how the different styles would make it hard for any team to handle.

“To see all those dudes just in attack mode, which is already in the style they play in, they're going to be tough to beat, tough to beat.” Russell said.

It’s a great realization by Russell when you actually sit back and think about it. 76ers head coach Nick Nurse coaches to that exact style of play. Nurse coaches with the mentality of pushing the pace, and this 76ers team embodies all of those teachings. When he won a title with the Toronto Raptors, the team had the fifth-highest offensive rating at 113.1.

Not only that, but the team scored 114 points per game, which ranked eighth. If this is what he could do in 2019, imagine what he could do with a more proficient scoring team like the 76ers. Russell marvels at all the possibilities with this team, and it’s not hard to see why.

There's a former MVP in Joel Embiid on the team, along with some all-stars and a young player with untapped potential. It’s still too early to tell if all of these guys can maintain a high point total individually, but with Nurse’s ability to adapt to his players, this could make for a season full of highlights.

This is what the front office intended when they put this team together. All eyes on the city of Philadelphia. It’s what led to the scheduling working out in their favor, well, that and knowing that LeBron James will be a part of the team.  It feeds into the hype of what this season could be for the 76ers. They have a team that anyone would love to be a part of, and now there are even NBA players marveling at the possibilities.
