The Philadelphia 76ers are making some significant roster moves following the All-Star break.
The team has been adding depth to its lineup for the final stretch of the 2025-26 season with their latest move, adding extra help up front.
According to ESPN NBA Insider Shams Charania, the 76ers are signing forward Jabari Walker to a new two-year standard deal, keeping him on the roster through the 2026-27 season.
“The Philadelphia 76ers intend to sign forward Jabari Walker to a new two-year contract, sources tell ESPN. 76ers and Klutch Sports' Rich Paul and Anthony Fields negotiated the new deal for Walker, who earned a rotation role after maxing out the games allowed on his two-way deal,” Charania reported.
The 6-foot-8, 23-year-old forward started the season on a two-day deal alongside Dominick Barlow; however, his stellar play has earned him a larger role in the rotation.
Walker reached his NBA eligibility by having been available for the maximum number of 50 games under the two-way deal. Walker has reached the eligibility, prompting the 76ers to convert his contract to a standard NBA deal.
Now in his fourth season in the NBA, Walker previously spent time with the Portland Trail Blazers, where he averaged 6.2 points and 4.5 rebounds in 188 games. Throughout his time in Philadelphia, he has emerged as a quality rotational player, averaging 3.7 points and 3.1 rebounds across 45 appearances with the 76ers.
Now in Philadelphia, he would split minutes off the bench with Justin Edwards and Trendon Watford.
The Philadelphia 76ers are currently holding the No. 6 seed in the Eastern Conference and are aiming to solidify their playoff position. Walker's promotion adds much-needed frontcourt depth as the team prepares for a postseason push.
Philadelphia recently added veteran guard Cameron Payne, along with former Nets guard Tyrese Martin, to the roster on a standard deal, strengthening its rotation. Now, with Walker, the 76ers will continue to build depth by adding a quality rotational piece to their frontcourt as they gear up for the stretch run.
