Kentavious Caldwell-Pope has been seen getting up some shots. This could bode well for Philadelphia adding a seasoned vet like this.
Another workout video has surfaced for the Philadelphia 76ers. Only this time, it's not one of the trusted starters that many are glowing about. This time it’s from Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.
Caldwell-Pope was signed in the offseason with the role coming off the bench and being a resourceful piece for not just the second unit, but certain situations when the game calls for it. Now, this isn’t Caldwell-Pope’s first rodeo coming off the bench as he was relegated to the bench during his short stint with the Memphis Grizzlies.
This time around Caldwell-Pope is on a winning team. The last time he had this opportunity, he was with the Denver Nuggets in 2023. That year he was a huge part of a Nuggets team that won the NBA championship. He was a physical wing defender and three-point maker who made some very important plays in their run for a championship. Now, he has a chance to do it again with the 76ers. In the workout video Caldwell-Pope was working on his floater shot.
Caldwell-Pope is reuniting with LeBron James, and they have a very storied history, as he won his first championship with LeBron when he was on the Los Angeles Lakers. Caldwell-Pope knows how James thinks. That’s what makes his addition to the team that much better. He adds another veteran leadership and more shooting, as if the team didn’t already have enough offensive firepower. This kind of thing is what makes Philadelphia such a major threat to every team in the NBA.
No matter who they put on the floor, it makes it hard to assess where the weaknesses are. Caldwell-Pope could be the Swiss Army knife the team needs. He can do everything: shoot, defend, and put the ball on the floor. His workout video gives the team a safety net. Imagine him on the floor with James, Jaylen Brown, Joel Embiid, and Tyrese Maxey. We know these are the kind of lineups head coach Nick Nurse can put together when he wants to get creative.
Caldwell-Pope could possibly be a candidate for sixth man of the year if he plays at a high level. Although, he’ll have to beat out his own teammate, Anfernee Simons, for that prestigious honor. Depth is a very important part of going on a championship run, and Caldwell-Pope is a perfect piece for this team.
If the workout video showed anything, it’s that he wants to be ready for anything that may come his way. Even if it means taking a starting role if need be.
