The Philadelphia 76ers could lose guard Quentin Grimes to the Miami Heat this offseason.

The Philadelphia 76ers have three key free agents: guard Quentin Grimes, forward Kelly Oubre Jr., and center Andre Drummond.

Among that bunch, Oubre and Grimes are the priorities in terms of who the 76ers should look to re-sign. However, it appears Philadelphia will face competition to retain the latter.

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald linked the Heat to a potential signing of Grimes.

"The Heat is expected to try to add at least two skilled three-point shooters in free agency," Jackson reported. "Other options, listed here, include Landry Shamet, Anfernee Simons and Quentin Grimes, among others."

The Heat are a completely different team than they were a month ago, as they sent out four key contributors in a blockbuster trade for ex-Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo and big man Bobby Portis. All-Star guard Norman Powell is also an unrestricted free agent who appears likely to head elsewhere this offseason.

Because of this, Miami is an intriguing suitor for Grimes if the front office can offer him the contract he desires. Not to mention, the 26-year-old would likely be a starter for the Heat, whereas he is guaranteed to be a part of the second unit in Philadelphia behind Tyrese Maxey and V.J. Edgecombe.

Grimes' production took a step back in the 2025-2026 campaign, but he proved what he's capable of during a 28-game stretch with the Sixers in the 2024-2025 season. In that span, he averaged 21.9 points on 46.9% shooting compared to 13.4 points on 45.0% shooting this past season. He also disappeared in Philadelphia's playoff series against the Boston Celtics and New York Knicks.

He can compete for a championship with either the 76ers or the Heat, but Miami is viewed as much more of a serious title contender in the Eastern Conference after landing Antetokounmpo. That is assuming Pat Riley and company can construct the proper roster around him and center Bam Adebayo.

So, Grimes' decision will likely come down to two factors: money and opportunity.
