Adding a proven winner in Jaylen Brown to the mix will only elevate the Philadelphia 76ers' chances of winning a title.
It has been 43 years since the Philadelphia 76ers won an NBA championship.
The 76ers' core of Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and V.J. Edgecombe has never come close to the biggest stage, as Philadelphia hasn't reached the Eastern Conference Finals or beyond in 'The Process' era.
Jaylen Brown changes that.
Not only did Brown win a championship in 2024 with the Boston Celtics, but he was named NBA Finals MVP for his outstanding level of play on both ends of the floor.
76ers coach Nick Nurse quietly pointed this out when discussing the acquisition of Brown.
"I mean, I think he's super competitive," Nurse said, per Sixers Wire. "I think he's won a lot. Obviously, he won a title. Finals MVP. I think he's a two-way player. I think he's versatile. Yeah, I think he's right there, sitting in his prime. So I think it's amazing that he's going to be a Sixer."
Nurse only touched on it briefly, but adding a proven winner in Brown to the mix is crucial. In order to win at the highest level, it's greatly beneficial to have someone who's been on that stage before.
Nurse is another member of the Sixers' organization who knows what it takes to win, as he led the Toronto Raptors to an NBA championship in 2019.
There's also a possibility of the 76ers adding one of the greatest winners in league history, LeBron James.
Brown will not only elevate Philadelphia in this way, however. He is an All-NBA wing who averaged 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.1 assists on 47.7% shooting in 71 games. Not to mention, he is strong on the defensive end of the floor as well.
So, it's safe to say the 76ers' move for Brown was a home run in more ways than one.
