Bleacher Report predicts the Philadelphia 76ers' next trade will involve a 22-year-old forward.

The Philadelphia 76ers don't have much incentive to make a major trade this offseason.

While the team is not widely regarded as a championship contender in the Eastern Conference, that relates more to their lack of health rather than a shortage of talent. Instead, the front office's focus needs to be on attempting to retain key free agents such as Kelly Oubre Jr. and Quentin Grimes.

If the 76ers do decide to deal a player this summer, Bleacher Report predicts it will be young forward Justin Edwards.

"As much as the Philadelphia 76ers would probably like to trade Joel Embiid or Paul George this offseason, their massive contracts will keep them in town," B/R's Greg Swartz wrote. "Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe should be viewed as untouchable, leaving precious few other players on the roster."

"Justin Edwards lands on this list nearly by default, as the 22-year-old is on a great contract (two years, $5 million) and is making 37.0 percent of his threes this season. The 76ers really have no reason to trade him, however, and should see if Embiid has any market at all," Swartz concluded.

Edwards has performed at a high level when given substantial minutes this season. With the 'Big Three' of Embiid, George, and Maxey sidelined for quite a while, coach Nick Nurse gave the 22-year-old an opportunity to shine, and he took full advantage.

His top performance of the 2025-2026 campaign came against the Sacramento Kings on March 19, as he recorded 32 points, four assists, and two steals on 61.1% shooting and 7 of 11 shooting from three-point range in 33 minutes of action.

As Swartz mentioned, there is no real motivation to part ways with Edwards. He's a solid off-the-bench contributor who has proven he's capable of stepping up when needed. Not to mention, his contract couldn't get much better, as it's a three-year, $7 million deal with a team option for the third season.

If Philadelphia does decide to cut ties with Edwards, let's hope it's not simply to cut costs.
