The shorthanded Philadelphia 76ers (34-29) are facing off against the Cleveland Cavaliers (39-25) on Monday night at Rocket Arena.
Philadelphia has lost three of its last four games, falling short against the Boston Celtics, San Antonio Spurs, and Atlanta Hawks. The 76ers' lone victory in that stretch came against the Utah Jazz.
Rookie guard V.J. Edgecombe suffered a lumbar contusion seconds before halftime against the Spurs, leading to him missing the games against Utah and Atlanta. Leading up to the matchup against the Cavaliers, Edgecombe was listed as questionable.
The 76ers have updated his status to out.
Here is the rest of the injury report for 76ers-Cavaliers:
76ERS
Johni Broome: Out - Right Knee; Surgery Recovery
Joel Embiid: Out - Right Oblique; Strain
Paul George: Out - League Suspension
Tyrese Maxey: Out - Right Finger; Sprain
Kelly Oubre Jr.: Available - Left Knee; Injury Recovery - Brace
CAVALIERS
Jarrett Allen: Out - Right Knee; Tendonitis
Keon Ellis: Available - Left Index Finger; Fracture
James Harden: Available - Right Thumb; Fracture
Tyrese Proctor: Out - Right Quadricep; Strain
Olivier Sarr: Out - G League; Two-Way
Max Strus: Out - Left Foot; Surgery - Jones Fracture
Dean Wade: Probable - Right Ankle; Sprain
The 76ers emerging victorious against the No. 4-seeded Cavaliers would be a tall task even if they were at full health. So, taking them down without their 'Big Three' of Maxey, Embiid, and George feels near impossible.
The positive news for Philadelphia is Cleveland isn't entering this game with much momentum. They have fallen short in three of their last five matchups with defeats coming against the Milwaukee Bucks, Detroit Pistons, and Boston Celtics. Victories in that stretch came against the Brooklyn Nets and Pistons.
Even with the Cavaliers lacking wins entering tonight's matchup, Philadelphia is without its four highest-paid players. Odds are the 76ers are going to be embarrassingly defeated Monday evening.
76ers vs. Cavaliers tips off at 7 PM ET.
