VJ Edgecombe couldn't believe the news was real. Finding out he is playing with a future Hall of Famer makes the itch to get back on the court stronger than ever.

LeBron James' own teammates are still in disbelief that he has joined the Philadelphia 76ers.

Rising sophomore VJ Edgecombe said he was in the middle of a workout when the news broke. The 21-year-old said he was working with one of the coaches when they informed him that the team acquired James. Finding it hard to believe, Edgecombe had to find out if his coach was telling the truth.

"I stopped mid-workout, I had to go check my phone to see if it was real." Edgecombe said.

Edgecombe is excited to pick the brains of one of the greatest players to grace the court. In his eyes, this team has one of the best lineups with Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid, James, and Jaylen Brown. The youngster is excited to get to work.

His reaction is something the public can relate to. It may have been James’ third time making an announcement like this, but it still makes you stop in your tracks to see where he goes. The idea of James being on the court with the young players can do wonders for them in the long run.

Edgecombe feels that learning from someone like James can improve his game and help to better the team as a unit. Everywhere James goes, he has found a way to create a new style of play for the team. When he joined the Los Angeles Lakers, he moved to the point guard position to help get everyone else involved. It’s also a way to find out the strengths and weaknesses of his teammates.

Edgecombe has plenty of tapped potential that James could work with. In his rookie season he averaged 16 points and 4.2 assists. In his scouting report on NBA.com prior to being drafted, he was compared to the likes of Russell Westbrook and Dwayne Wade, two former teammates of James.

These comparisons were made because of his explosiveness and energy. Edgecombe has an innate ability to make tough shots and force the defense to collapse when he goes to the rim. If he can improve his three-point shooting, the NBA could be in for a tough assignment.

This is a player that can help an offense, especially one with a 41-year-old player who’s looking to delegate to the younger players. The chance to take on that lesser role allows Edgecombe to find his niche within the lineup. If he can bring his energy and just do all the little things, it’s sure to lead to a promising future for the young star.
