The 76ers are clinging on to the No. 7 seed in the Eastern Conference right now. What will this mean for their Play-In matchups? Will they be able to go into the playoffs and surprise people with a deep run?

The Philadelphia 76ers enter the postseason picture with more uncertainty than most teams in the Eastern Conference but also a level of upside few can match.

A lot of their outlook will depend on their health and potential Play-In Tournament matchups.

If Philly lands in the Play-In Tournament, two likely opponents are the Charlotte Hornets and the Orlando Magic. Two teams that present very different challenges.

Charlotte relies heavily on their offense, as they are fourth in the league in offensive rating. LaMelo Ball spearheads the offense as an elite pick-and-roll playmaker and the conductor of one of the game's premier offenses. Kon Knueppel has been one of the most impressive rookies in recent memory, combining elite shooting with self-creation skills and off-ball movement to be one of the best secondary scorers in the game in just his first year. Brandon Miller rounds off the offense as a productive scorer who plays well on and off the ball.

The Sixers will have an advantage in the paint if Joel Embiid is available, as Moussa Diabate and Ryan Kalkbrenner are solid bigs, but it's a tall task for even the best rim protectors to stop Embiid when he's at his best. Combine that with the offensive firepower that Tyrese Maxey and V.J. Edgecombe have, and you have the potential for a very entertaining playoff matchup.

Orlando, on the other hand, presents a different stylistic challenge. The Magic pride themselves on their defense and physicality. Offensively, Paolo Banchero has had to carry more of the offensive burden with Franz Wagner injured; Jalen Suggs has been productive this season as well; and Anthony Black has been one of the league's breakout players this season. The Magic will be far better if they can get the young guard back before the playoffs begin.

As of now, Philly has the offensive advantage, but Orlando has the bodies to put in front of their perimeter scorers, and Wendell Carter has always been a solid interior defender. This matchup would require Maxey and Edgecombe to have strong performances in order to open up scoring opportunities for Embiid, but if they manage to advance, they would have an even taller hill to climb.

If Philadelphia advances, a first-round series against the Boston Celtics would be a very difficult matchup. The Celtics are in the top five in offensive and defensive rating and have a combination of size, shooting, and depth. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are the two best players on the team; their elite three-level scoring will give the Sixers serious issues on defense.

For the Sixers to compete here, they would need perfect execution. Embiid, Maxey, and Edgecombe would need to be firing on all cylinders, the defense would need to be dialed in to stop Boston's plethora of offensive options, and role players would have to step up big and be ready for the challenge of playing a team with championship pedigree.

Ultimately, Philadelphia's playoff ceiling comes down to availability and consistency. When healthy, they have the star power to compete with anyone in the conference. But against deeper, more complete teams such as Boston, the margin for error becomes extremely small.

The path won't be easy, but if the Sixers can get into rhythm at the right time, they can be one of the most dangerous wild cards in the Eastern Conference.
