AJ Green set a Milwaukee Bucks franchise record on Friday against the Brooklyn Nets, knocking down 11 three pointers.

Green surpassed a mark set by Ray Allen and Damian Lillard, who shared the record with 10 threes made in a game.

Green went 11-16 from beyond the arc, getting hot in the second half and particularly the fourth quarter. He hit just three threes in the first half, but started to heat up in the third quarter, going 3-4 from beyond the arc.

In the fourth, he hit just one three in the first half of the quarter, giving him a total of seven on the night. It wasn't until the final half of the final quarter that he set fire, knocking down three threes, including a 35-footer, in the span of two minutes to tie the record before breaking the record with 40 seconds remaining in the game.

AJ Green Speaks On His Night

Speaking to the media after the game, Green was asked when he knew it was going to be a big night for himself.

"I don't think you ever really know. You kind of just play the game and as shots start to fall, my teammates kept telling me to shoot it and let it fly. That's just what I was trying to do. They kept going on. It was a fun night," he said.

He said that his teammates kept updating him on how close he was to the record, but that he didn't want to think of that because he didn't want to think of the result before the shot.

He credited his teammates for getting him the ball and keeping him hot.

At the end of the game, the crowd was chanting for Green, including chants of "Dairy Bird," which is the nickname that has been bestowed upon him.

Going For Another Record

While Green set the single game record for Milwaukee on Friday, he could surpass the season record for three made on Sunday in the Bucks finale against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Green has knocked down 227 threes on the year, putting him two behind Ray Allen, who set the single-season record with 229 threes in 2001-02. Allen shot 43% from beyond the arc that season, going 229-528.

This year, Green is shooting 42% this season, hitting 227 of his 540 attempts. He hasn't hit fewer than two threes since March 25, but is shooting below his average in three games against the Sixers this season, hitting five of his 13 attempts.
