Bobby Portis had some thoughts about the report of Giannis' role in hiring Taylor Jenkins.
The Milwaukee Bucks have hired Taylor Jenkins to be their next head coach, succeeding Doc Rivers after the Hall of Fame coach parted ways with the Bucks at the end of this past season.
The hire is a sign of a positive new direction for the Bucks. Jenkins is a proven winner from his six seasons stint as the head coach of the Memphis Grizzlies and he's been praised in past for his skill in developing young talent.
After a disappointing 11th place finish in the Eastern Conference, the Bucks need to undergo a radical shakeup of their team in order to bounce back and become contenders again, which they were for the majority of a decade before this season.

It's those mix of factors that's left Bobby Portis unconvinced about a particular aspect of the report around Jenkins' hiring.

Shams Charania of ESPN broke the news that the Bucks were hiring Jenkins, but in his report he also stated that Antetokounmpo was not believed to have been involved in the process of bringing Jenkins on.
Portis recently appeared on FanDuel Sports' Run It Back program, where he expressed his doubts about the veracity of that aspect of the report.
"I don't think its true," Portis said as the program's hosts agreed with him.
Considering the weight that Antetokoumpo has in the organization as the face of the franchise and the most vital part of the lineup to create any kind of success on the court, it's natural to think that he would have at least been consulted on the decision.
On the other hand, there appears to be a growing rift between Antetokounmpo and the Bucks front office.

Also included in Charania's report was that Antetokounmpo hadn't spoken to Bucks leadership on his future with the franchise since the trade deadline passed.
That's while he continued to do media appearances where his frustration with the team on a number of issues, performance and his playing time after recovering from an injury, were expressed openly.

Either way, Portis' comments are purely speculative. The Jenkins hiring seems to signal a step in the right direction for Milwaukee and nothing else definite has been said about Antetokounmpo's involvement in the decision or his reaction to it.
