Taylor Jenkins is pleased with the poise rookie guard Brayden Burries plays with.
This upcoming season, the Milwaukee Bucks will need to evaluate multiple young players on their roster to find out who will be a long-term piece and who won't. One player who will draw a lot of attention is rookie guard Brayden Burries, out of Arizona.
Burries was the 10th pick in the 2026 NBA Draft and showed he can be a very dynamic combo guard in his college days. During the Summer League, he played with a lot of intensity and poise, making plays that made him look like the best athlete on the court.
In his most recent preseason game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Burries finished the game with 16 points and came alive in the clutch, scoring 12 of those points coming in the fourth quarter to help the Bucks win 128-126.
Alonzo Adams-Imagn ImagesAfter the game, Bucks head coach Taylor Jenkins gave a lot of praise to Brayden Burries for his ability to stay composed in a situation like that.
"It's really encouraging for a young guard to play with that poise," Jenkins said. "For a young guard, Brayden did a really good job tonight."
As Milwaukee looks for its next star to build around, a performance like this from a rookie guard must make the front office and coaching staff excited. This season, Burries will likely see a lot of opportunities to showcase his skills and lead this Bucks offensive attack.
Milwaukee has a lot of young guards on its roster, and Taylor Jenkins and the coaching staff may be looking to get all of them involved as they navigate having so many new faces on the roster.
Benny Sieu-Imagn ImagesGuard Ryan Rollins is coming off a career year last season with the Bucks, and he will be a player who will likely start at point guard to start the season. Veteran guard Kevin Porter Jr. will also see opportunities to run this offense, but with the direction of this franchise, he could be someone who gets traded midseason.
If Burries can continue to set himself apart with his timely plays and effort on both ends of the floor, he will see a lot of playing time by the end of the season, and he could be in the running for the Rookie of the Year award.
Taylor Jenkins will continue to evaluate this roster throughout the preseason, but after consistent performance from Burries, he could look to give him more playing time sooner rather than later.
