The Milwaukee Bucks selected Brayden Burries with the 10th overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.
After a blockbuster trade that sent former MVP and franchise cornerstone Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat, the Milwaukee Bucks turned their attention to the NBA Draft, where they selected guard Brayden Burries from Arizona with the 10th overall pick.
A big question mark for the future of the Bucks roster was their backcourt, and after trading for Tyler Herro and drafting Brayden Burries, they may have found some more certainty.
Burries was a player who was a part of a run to the NCAA National Championship with Arizona. Burries played one season for the Wildcats and averaged 16.1 points per game, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.4 assists.
Trevor Ruszkowski-Imagn ImagesHe is a player who shot the ball at a high level from distance, as he shot 39 percent from three-point range during his freshman season. Burries can be a player who gets hot and cold, but there is no doubt he has the ability to take over a game with his scoring.
One game that stood out during his time at Arizona was his 31-point effort in an 89-79 win over Colorado. This was a game where he was very efficient from the field, shooting 9-for-16 and 2-for-5 from downtown.
How Does Burries Fit in With The Bucks?
The Bucks have just entered a rebuilding phase, and it could take time to get used to days without Giannis Antetokounmpo on the roster. Because of this, the team may be filled with young players trying to find their way onto the court.
Robert Deutsch-Imagn ImagesBurries could have to compete for playing time with other players in the backcourt, but his upside on offense could set him apart from other players. If he can work on his efficiency, he can turn heads around the league his rookie season.
Like other rookies in this draft class, strength will also be something that will need to improve. Burries stands at 6'4 and weighs 215 pounds. As he continues to play in the NBA, he can get used to the physicality NBA bigs bring.
In terms of the pieces around him, he can get used to working with this new-look Bucks roster. Tyler Herro and Kel'el Ware are the two players who were the biggest additions in the Giannis trade, and Burries could find his way to playing alongside both of them full time.
Christine Tannous/IndyStar-USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn ImagesBurries will have time to figure out his role within this roster, and he will likely get multiple opportunities in games to show the Bucks coaching staff what he has to offer.
The Milwaukee Bucks also selected Nate Ament with the 13th overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.
