Doc Rivers spoke about Milwaukee's improvement on the margins in their win over Indiana.

The story of the day on Sunday afternoon was Giannis Antetokounmpo going down with an apparent injury and exiting the Milwaukee Bucks' game against the Indiana Pacers. Doc Rivers speculated that it might be a hyperextension, but there hasn't been an official diagnosis yet.

That development served to overshadow the positive afternoon the Bucks were able to put together. After an extended stretch of disappointing play recently, Milwaukee was able to finally get back on track and took down their rival Pacers, 134-123. Rivers believes his team did a lot of the little things that lead to winning better in this one.

"I thought, team-wide, we did two things," Rivers said. "We took care of the ball, and we shot and made more threes. And we had more shots, so we won the margin game, so we win the game."

Doing The Little Things Right

The two elements Doc mentioned are fundamentally the foundation of how he wants this team to play. When the Bucks are turning the ball over and missing from deep, they become a very beatable team. When they execute in those areas, their talent level takes over and results like Sunday's follow naturally.

Milwaukee has been frustrating to watch at times this season, but this was a reminder of what they're capable of when the right habits are in place. A win over the Pacers might not look like much, but getting back in the win column had been far from a given for this team in any game recently.

This team needed to get out of its own way in recent weeks. Winning this game, even against a subpar opponent, proved that they're able to do that.

What Comes Next For Milwaukee

But ultimately, the Giannis situation is the only thing that matters coming out of Sunday's game. A hyperextension is the best case scenario for an injury of that nature, but until an official diagnosis is confirmed Bucks fans will understandably be holding their breath. Milwaukee's ceiling with a healthy Giannis and their floor without him are two entirely different conversations.

This Bucks team has proven it can compete and execute on the right nights. Against the Pacers, good habits were more apparent and the team looked more locked in than they have in recent weeks.

But sustaining that level of play without their best player, if it comes to that, will be the real test of this roster's depth and character. The Bucks are still barely within striking distance of the play-in. How they respond to potential adversity in the coming days will say a lot about who this team really is with their backs against the wall.
