The Milwaukee Bucks are limping toward the finish line of a disappointing season, with the playoffs long out of the picture. But even in the midst of a difficult year, there are silver linings worth acknowledging, and one of the most significant has been the steady presence of Taurean Prince.
After defeating the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday afternoon, Cormac Ryan made sure to shine a light on what Prince has meant to this group, both on and off the floor.
"TP has been an incredible vet for me in particular," Ryan said. "I've really appreciated him ... Watching him battle back from a difficult rehab, that's not an easy injury to come back from." This is clearly a guy who has made an impression on a lot of the guys in the locker room.
"To watch him play the way he's been playing, to be a voice, to be a leader in our second group has been incredible to watch, and it's also made our lives easier."

The Bucks have leaned heavily on youth this season as the front office figures out what the next chapter looks like in Milwaukee. With Giannis Antetokounmpo's future uncertain and a roster filled with players still finding their footing, veteran leadership hasn't always been easy to come by.
That's what makes Prince's contribution so valuable. The 31-year-old has embraced a bench role this season after starting 73 games a year ago, doing so without complaint.
He's been exactly what a young team needs: a calm, experienced voice who knows how to help others navigate a long NBA season. For a franchise in transition, steadiness like that is hard to put a number on.
Prince led the Bucks in scoring Friday against the Celtics with 18 points, one of the few genuine bright spots in an otherwise lopsided affair. That's a significant night for some of the younger players who are looking at veterans to instill good habits in them down the stretch of a lost season.
What Prince's Leadership Means for Milwaukee
Ryan's mention of Prince's rehab wasn't incidental. Prince dealt with knee and ankle issues at various points this season, and staying engaged as a leader through those setbacks isn't a given. Plenty of veterans mail it in when the team is out of contention and they're managing their own physical limitations, but Prince hasn't done that.
The Bucks' second unit has struggled this season, making a stabilizing force like Prince all the more important. When Ryan says Prince has made their lives easier, that speaks to something beyond shot-making. It's the trust that comes from playing alongside someone who's seen it all and doesn't panic when things go sideways.
Ryan himself has been a bright spot off the bench, competing hard all season. His singling out Prince as a key reason for his own growth says a lot about the environment Prince has helped create down the stretch.
