Doc Rivers says he's on the same page with the Milwaukee Bucks regarding his future.

The Milwaukee Bucks wrapped up their season on Sunday, falling to the Philadelphia 76ers, 126-106.

2025-26 was a trying year for head coach Doc Rivers and the Bucks, starting in the offseason when trade rumors swirled around Giannis Antetokounmpo and the team waived and stretched Damian Lillard to try and save money to retool for this season.

Giannis played a career low 36 games, and the Bucks roster wasn't good enough to compete without him.

Rivers' future has come into question in the final weeks of the season as he's 64 years old and hasn't had post-season success since 2011-12, the last time his team made a Conference Finals.

Doc Rivers Speaks

After the loss to the 76ers, Rivers was asked about his future with Milwaukee and if he was ready to announce anything.

"No, I can tell you we're all on the same page. We've talked about it. We want it out pretty quick. I want them to do it. It's better," he said.

Asked what he would like his role to be, he replied, "We're going to keep talking about it. Good organization. We want to get back on the map. We'll figure it out."

Rivers noted that he has been connected with executive Jon Horst on everything. He said they would take a look at the roster in the offseason and figure out how to retool or rebuild, admitting that a decision regarding Giannis would influence things.

The New York Knicks reportedly had an offer for Giannis last offseason, but a deal never got done. Trade rumors were prominent during the trad deadline, but once again, a deal never came to fruition.

Giannis and the front office have seemed to be disconnected in recent months as Giannis has questioned where he fits in the only organization that he's ever known. A big sticking point has been Giannis wanting to play in the final games of the season, claiming he was healthy enough to play, but he was not cleared by the doctors.

Doc Steps Down

On Monday, it was officially announced that Rivers had stepped down from his role as the head coach.

Rivers said that he loved his time in Milwaukee, and he was disappointed that things didn't turn out the way he had hoped.

Rivers was hired by the Bucks in the middle of the 2024 season. He went 97-103 as the head coach, the first time in his career he had a losing record with a team. This season was the first time since 2006-07 that he had a losing season as a head coach through a full season.

The Bucks failed to make it out of the first round in Rivers' two playoff trips with the team. They won three total playoff games in Rivers' three seasons.
