Doc Rivers wasn't a fan of how the Bucks got their final basket against the Memphis Grizzlies.
The Milwaukee Bucks snapped a two-game losing streak on Sunday with a 131-115 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies.
Both teams entered the game with nothing to play for but lottery odds and featured young talent due to various injuries.
While Giannis Antetokounmpo did not play due to a knee injury, his brothers Alex Antetokounmpo and Thanasis Antetokounmpo saw minutes off the bench. For Alex, he scored his first career field goal, a mid-range jumper from the baseline with 30 seconds remaining.
He was 0-3 before hitting that shot, but had knocked down four free throws in previous games.
The Grizzlies scored a layup, giving the Bucks one more possession. The Antetokounmpo brothers made the most of it with Alex hitting Thansis for an alley-oop.
Doc Rivers Speaks
After the game, Doc was asked about Alex hitting his first field goal and the alley-oop to his brother.
"The alley-oop I could have done without, to be honest, because the game was decided. I actually don't like plays like that," said Doc.
The Bucks were up 129-114 with under 24 seconds remaining, meaning they could have run out the clock.
Thansis got a technical foul for hanging on the rim and slapping the background after completing the dunk.
Speaking about Alex's field goal, Doc said, "It was good to see him take the shot. He had an open shot. They kind of dared him. He took one the other night. Good for him, man. A kid that grew up here. Obviously, his brother [Giannis] is pretty good, from what we hear. It's a good thing."
Thanasis and Alex
Alex is a 24-year-old rookie who has played a total of 12 minutes this season. Thanasis has been in and out of the league over his career, never averaging more than 10 minutes per game in his seven NBA seasons. This year, he's played a total of 117 minutes.
For the two brothers, they may never get an opportunity to share the court again, given their respective career paths thus far and future outlook.
Giannis is still the face of the franchise in Milwaukee, but it is unclear if he will return to this season and beyond. He claims that he is healthy enough to play in the final games of the season, but he has been kept out of the lineup. All signs point to both sides moving on from each other in the offseason.
