Giannis Antetokounmpo believes that the whole team needs to be grittier and more confident before anything can change.

One of many longstanding problems for the Milwaukee Bucks this season has been their over-reliance on singular players performances and a lack of cohesion throughout the entire team's effort and that disjointed effort has manifested into a loss time and time again for Milwaukee, as it has during the team's four-game losing streak.

Basketball is a team reliant game and the NBA even more so. While superstars obviously make a difference, they can't score all 100+ points that a team needs to win a game, and they certainly can't single-handedly drag a team into a comeback.

That's been one of Giannis Antetokounmpo's many frustrations with the Bucks this season and it identifies one of the reasons why the Bucks haven't been able to turn their season around at any point.

Assertiveness as a Team

"When you're for something and you're facing adversity, you figure out a way to buckle down and respond," Antetokounmpo said (via Bucks). "I feel sometimes we don't do that. Or, not only we don't do that, we think one person will do it on his own. You cannot comeback in the game with one possession if you're down 10."

With Antetokounmpo specifically, the Bucks have looked lost without him on the court. They've gone 11-18 in games without him and it's been evident that without his size and physicality on the court there's a clear lack of willingness on defense and a lack of pace on offense.

Although, Antetokounmpo wasn't just talking about himself. He feels that the Bucks can't come together as a team in general when times get tough and their overall mentality shifts to just having one player with a hot hand push them through, whether that's himself or someone like Cam Thomas or Bobby Portis

What the Bucks need to do instead is have everyone push the pace and work together.

A Mindset Shift is Needed

If the entire team is sitting back and waiting for a savior, then a savior will never come. Instead, everyone has to try and save the team and work in cohesion to do it.

That mindset ties back into the effort problems that the Bucks have had all season. Their struggling record isn't so much a reflection of a deficit of talent as it is a deficit of execution. The pieces are there, they just aren't being put together.

Nothing can really change in. Milwaukee until that mindset changes. There's only so many ways to shake up a team, whether that be through changes in players or personnel, but if the overall mindset of the roster is something that trends toward timidity rather than assertion, the same problems will likely repeat themselves.
