The 2025-26 season has looked far different for Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo. Aside from the early-season injuries, this roster is far different from the ones he has had in the past. No longer does he have his fellow stars in Brook Lopez and Khris Middleton, as the Bucks look to reshape the roster and find ways to contend around their MVP forward.

Luckily, the team was able to strike gold with their guard play, getting high-level starter play from Kevin Porter Jr. and Ryan Rollins this season. Both guards are averaging over 17 points per game this season and over 5.5 assists, as the Bucks may have found their future backcourt. However, it's led to Giannis adjusting to a new role in the offense.

Giannis Speaks On The New Guard Dynamic

Following the team's 115-98 win over the Sacramento Kings, Giannis was asked about what it's like to play with two guards who dominate with the ball in their hands, making him play in more of an off-ball role.

"I think both of them are great basketball players. They know what we are trying to look for. As much as I can right now, try to kind of facilitate as much as I can from the post," Giannis said.

He also went on to express that he likes bringing the ball up the court and facilitating the offense, but knows he has to adjust with two playmaking guards next to him.

"But now, just, you know, kind of give them space to grow. Because at the end of the day, we're gonna need them to make plays and read plays, read momentums, and read situations, and set up our offense...they gotta go through it," Giannis added.

With Rollins at 23 and Porter Jr. at 25, there's a lot of basketball ahead for these players. Outside of them, Milwaukee doesn't have any promising young players who could be quality starters for years to come. Especially if Giannis were to leave sometime before the start of next season, the Bucks need to set themselves up for potential life after their MVP.

Through two games in the new year, Rollins is averaging 20.5 points, 5.5 assists, and 5.0 rebounds, while Porter Jr. is averaging 17.5 points, 10.0 assists, and 4.0 rebounds. There's still plenty of basketball ahead of them, but if the Bucks can figure out their rotations and better utilize their guards with Giannis, they could crawl back into the thick of the East playoff race.
