Could family sway Giannis' decision this offseason?

The Milwaukee Bucks just wrapped up one of the most turbulent seasons in franchise history, finishing 32-50 and missing the playoffs for the first time since Giannis Antetokounmpo's rookie year.

But while trade rumors and front office feuds have dominated the headlines, Giannis reminded everyone what really drives him on the debut episode of Goran Dragic's podcast, Gogi's Garage.

When the conversation turned to family, Giannis got emotional about what it means to share an NBA roster with his brothers Thanasis and Alex in Milwaukee.

"My brother for me... I'll do whatever for him, help him in any way that I can because people see us now but they don't see how we grew up," Antetokounmpo said. "We used to dream together. That's the most important thing... When you start accomplishing them with your brother, the joy that you have is like times two."

Three Brothers, One Roster

This season marked the first time in NBA history that three brothers were on active roster contracts with the same team.

Thanasis re-signed on a one-year deal last August after missing the entire 2024-25 season with a torn Achilles, and Alex joined on a two-way contract in October, making the historic trio official.

It was a not-so-subtle move by the Bucks to keep Giannis happy, and there is no question that family is central to everything he does.

Giannis averaged 27.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 5.4 assists this season, but played a career-low 36 games due to a string of injuries that included calf strains and a left knee hyperextension suffered in mid-March.

Even with all of that, his production when healthy was still among the best in the league and showed he remains an elite player at 31 years old.

The Feud That Defined the Season's End

The final weeks of the season exposed a real fracture between Giannis and the organization.

After the knee injury, the Bucks wanted to shut him down and improve their lottery odds, but Giannis pushed to return.

Part of his motivation was simple.

He wanted to step on the court alongside Thanasis and Alex at the same time, something that never happened because the team refused to clear him.

The NBPA even backed Giannis publicly, and the tension between player and front office became impossible to ignore.

Thanasis and Alex did share the floor together in early April against the Celtics, but Giannis watched from the sideline, and that reality clearly stung.

What Comes Next

Doc Rivers has since stepped away as head coach, and the Bucks face a pivotal offseason with Giannis entering the final guaranteed year of his contract.

Teams from New York to Miami to Minnesota are expected to pursue him in trade talks this summer.

But even with all of the noise surrounding his future, Giannis keeps coming back to family, and that could be a major factor in where he goes.
