The Milwaukee Bucks pulled off a resurgent 116-101 over the Boston Celtics Thursday night in a major victory that snapped a two-game losing streak for Milwaukee.
The Bucks have had it rough lately, losing 10 of their last 12 before Thursday's win, but the energy that Milwaukee was able to bring to the court not only made all the difference in their dominant victory, it made them look like a brand new team.
Much of that energy came from Bobby Portis, who scored 27 points, second on the team behind Kyle Kuzma's 31, doing so in 26 minutes off the bench while shooting 11-13 from the field and 5-6 from three-point range.

Benny Sieu-Imagn ImagesPortis has been a fixture of the Bucks organization for six seasons now and his impact on the team is undeniable. Portis' reliable production style of play not only hypes up the crowds that have watched him play for so many years, but energizes his teammates as well.
"Everyone knows what BP [Portis] means to this organization, way before I came here," Kevin Porter Jr. said. "The energy is contagious. The fans love him. Any time Bobby goes in, it's Bobby chants, and I think that will turn anyone up. Bobby feeds off of it and he plays well. He deserves all the love and like I said, he was the spark that we needed to get this one."

When he first entered the game with roughly four minutes to go in the first quarter, he nailed his first three shots in three minutes, immediately jump-starting the pace for the Bucks despite an overall slow first half for the team.
As the game went on and the Celtics slowed down, Portis was a steady presence coming off the bench to light up the scoreboard and keep the Bucks moving along.
The pressure that he puts up from beyond the arc either forces defenses to show him extra attention, therefore freeing up his forwards like Kuzma to have big games, or he finds himself free in the corners to deliver crucial points.

His veteran presence also provides a key example of the effort level that's been needed from the Bucks lately and what showed up against the Celtics. That effort and dedication to the game make it easy to see why Portis is so respected by his teammates and beloved by fans.
