The Milwaukee Bucks are a team that everyone has their eyes on, and it's not because of their play on the court. Ever since the 2025 offseason, Giannis Antetokounmpo's situation has been monitored by several teams around the league. Following Shams Charania's report, the intensity has significantly picked up.

Currently, the Bucks are on a four-game losing streak, with their most recent loss coming at the hands of the Washington Wizards. With Giannis currently sidelined, as well as Kevin Porter Jr., this team looks drastically different than the group that won an NBA title in 2021.

Kyle Kuzma Calls Out Team's Urgency

With Giannis and Porter Jr. sidelined, Kyle Kuzma has taken up a bigger role in the team's offense, averaging 15.7 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 6.7 assists per game over the last three contests.

Going from an off to an on-ball role, Kuzma spoke after the game that he's upset that the team isn't showing enough sense of urgency as they continue to drop in the standings.

"I mean, I think it just shows that we just don't have [a] sense of urgency....We can't keep doing that to ourselves. We've done this so many games this year. If we bring that same edge and urgency earlier, then we probably have a different type of frown," Kuzma said.

Heading into Friday's NBA slate, the Bucks are 1.5 games back of the Hornets for the 11th seed and four games back of the 10th seed. There's still a sizable gap between them and the bottom three teams in the East, but a lot can change over the next couple of weeks.

In terms of Thursday's contest between the Bucks and Wizards, Milwaukee brought it to within two points in the final 1:30 of the game, but then allowed the Wizards to score eight straight points, mainly coming off free throws to seal the game. As Kuzma said, it was simply too little, too late.

What Does Milwaukee Do?

In an ideal world, the Bucks find a package that makes sense for them with draft picks and young assets before the February 5th trade deadline. If that were to happen, they could continue losing games, where they'll receive the worst of their pick and New Orleans' pick in a loaded 2026 draft class.

However, the Bucks could also stay put and opt to trade Giannis in the offseason, where in that case, it'd be best that Giannis is off the floor the most he can be to improve their chances at a good draft pick.

Regardless, players like Kuzma might be fighting for the Bucks to turn things around, but in reality, winning games isn't going to help this team long-term.
