Taylor Jenkins is encouraged by Nate Ament's recovery from a sprained ankle.

In their preseason game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Milwaukee Bucks forward Nate Ament suffered a left ankle sprain, keeping him out temporarily.

Ament was the 13th overall pick in this year’s draft, and he’s someone the Bucks are looking to develop as the season continues. He was brought in because of the upside he possesses and has the potential to be a well-rounded player.

Bucks head coach Taylor Jenkins recently spoke to the media about Ament’s recovery, and he was encouraged by how he’s been attacking the process.

“He’s attacking his return to play program with a great amount of urgency,” Jenkins said. “Obviously he wants to go out there and play.”

Jenkins also mentioned that Ament plans to return by opening night, and the imaging and scans were not very concerning.

For Nate Ament, it will be important for him to be as healthy as possible during his rookie season. He will likely see a lot of opportunities to develop during the season, as he needs playing time to improve.

During his lone season at Tennessee, Nate Ament showed he has the potential to be a forward who can do it all on the court. He’s shown flashes of scoring, passing, and defending, but he will need to put it all together as a player.

Luckily for him, he’s in a situation that’s very favorable, considering the Bucks are in the early stages of a rebuild and have a lot of uncertainty surrounding their roster.

Milwaukee’s starting frontcourt is Kyle Kuzma and Myles Turner, and while both players can still produce and help make this team competitive, they are veteran players who could be on the move before the end of the season.

If Ament can stay healthy throughout the season and improve game by game, he could find himself playing a pivotal role for the Bucks in his first year.

Taylor Jenkins will likely have to mix in different players this season, as the Bucks could struggle to find their footing, but the organization knows it has to develop young talent now, and Ament could have a big return on investment for them.

If Ament can mix in well with players like Brayden Burries or Ryan Rollins this season, that could create a big impact on the team as well.

This Bucks team has a lot of question marks this season, but the front office and coaching staff could see some of those being answered with the development of their young core.
