Breaking down the Milwaukee Bucks victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Milwaukee Bucks managed to pick up a 128-126 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder in preseason action on Wednesday, mounting a strong second half comeback to get the victory.
The Bucks had their starting lineup on the floor, with Ryan Rollins, Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr, Kel’el Ware, and Myles Turner as the first five on the court.
The decision to go double big with Turner and Ware came at the expense of Kyle Kuzma, who did not play after struggling in Milwaukee’s preseason opener.
The Oklahoma City Thunder didn’t have their full starting lineup, but reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Cason Wallace, and Jalen Williams did play.
Brayden Burries Leads Down The Stretch
It wasn’t a good first half for the Milwaukee starters against the Thunder starters. By the second half and the fourth quarter, all the starters were out, and it was down to rookies and end-of-rotation guys.
Say what you will about the competition, but guys still have to make plays, and Brayden Burries made plays.
He led the team in the fourth quarter, and especially the final five minutes. Burries had 12 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter, attacking the rim and either finishing or drawing a foul. The aggressiveness from Burries down the stretch was a huge positive for Milwaukee.

Tyler Herro is looked at as the best player on the team, but this team belongs to Rollins.
He led the offense during his time on the floor, finishing wth 12 points on 5-for-7 shooting and seven assists. Herro was used more as a playmaker during his days with the Miami Heat, but now he can focus more on scoring as Rollins will look to create for Herro, others, and himself.
It was a good night for Rollins against an aggressive Thunder defense.
Defensive Struggles
Milwaukee gave up 126 points in the game, but the big number is giving up 82 points in the first half. They were better on both sides of the floor in the second half, but Oklahoma City kept Gilgeous-Alexander, Williams, Wallace, and Caruso on the bench for the second half.
The first-half defense was not good against the top players from the Thunder. It’s easy to dismiss that as going up against one of the best teams in the league, but truly, it’s a sign of things to come for Milwaukee. This team is going to struggle on the defensive end of the court most nights and will have to try to outscore its problems.
