After trade rumours surrounding Tyler Herro circulated for the last couple of seasons, he was finally traded as part of the blockbuster package that sent him to the Milwaukee Bucks and Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat. 

The full package included Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis to the Heat for Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakučionis, three first-round picks (No. 13 today, 2031 and 2033), a 2030 first-round pick swap, and a 2033 second-round pick.

The All-Star shooting guard and Wisconsin Native is finally in a new city and looking for an expanded role with the Bucks, or so you think. According to The Athletic's Sam Amick and Eric Nehm, the Bucks are “unclear if Herro will remain with the team” and that they will “listen to offers for the 26-year-old All-Star.” 

With plenty of suitors interested in landing Herro, his homecoming could be over before he even unpacks his bags. 

Herro just finished up his seventh season with the Heat, earning the 2021-2022 Sixth Man of the Year award and an All-Star bid in the 2024-2025 season. A reliable second option in the backcourt under Jimmy Butler, his game excelled after his departure. 

Averaging 20.5 points per game, Herro marked his fifth consecutive season averaging at least 20 points while shooting a career-best 48% from the floor despite an injury-riddled campaign.

Within this past season, Herro has emerged as a more dynamic scoring threat since he was more in control of the offense. Initially, he was more of a catch-and-shoot wing player posing a serious threat from beyond the arc, but he has evolved into a terrific off-ball player who uses his speed to fly around screens and create his own shots. 

Despite his progression, the Bucks may not have a place for him with Ryan Rollins and AJ Green as their main shooting threats, opening the door for yet another trade. 

While the Bucks are still weighing out options, a couple of teams could emerge sooner than expected with Draft night approaching.

Yet, the one team that has gained the most traction thus far is the Detroit Pistons. In a proposed deal from Bleacher Report's Andy Bailey, the Pistons would send Caris LeVert and a 2029 first-round draft pick to the Bucks for Herro. 

This deal especially makes sense for the Pistons, as Cade Cunningham ultimately needs consistent backcourt production from a reliable shooter that he can pair with Jalen Duren's physicality in the low post. 

For the Bucks, they still have a lot to explore, but this would give them a combo-guard in LeVert who can find a more expanded role to pair with their established shooters.
