Tyler Herro is looking forward to the next chapter of his career with the Bucks.
Tyler Herro's career entered a new chapter this offseason as he was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks as part of a blockbuster trade that sent former Finals MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat. Herro was drafted by the Heat in 2019 and made two Finals appearances with the franchise.
Herro delivered big moments for Miami during his time there as he was a near 20-point-per-game scorer during his tenure. Tyler Herro left his mark in Miami, but the relationship between him and his former teammates may be damaged moving forward.
Shams Charania of ESPN reported that Tyler Herro and Heat forward Bam Adebayo were recently involved in a physical altercation that ended with Adebayo striking Herro.
Charania also mentioned that this altercation started after Adebayo approached Herro for comments he made about him on social media. Even though the altercation happened, Herro has managed not to bring it up in the media during his time in Las Vegas.
Herro was pulled aside for an interview while in attendance for the Summer League, and he shared his thoughts about his upcoming season with the Milwaukee Bucks and what it's like playing close to home.
He was also asked about how he feels towards Miami and the Heat organization, to which he responded, "It's all love."
In terms of what's next for Herro, he has a checkered past with Milwaukee and the state of Wisconsin after decommitting from the University of Wisconsin for the University of Kentucky during his high school recruitment process, but he's ready for a fresh start and to play back home.
He made an interesting point about what his career would look like if he didn't decommit from Wisconsin, saying, "I mean, I can keep it simple as - if I didn't decommit, I probably wouldn't be on the Bucks right now, so I had to make a business at the time and go to Kentucky.... I'm excited to be home."
Sam Navarro-Imagn ImagesHerro also mentioned how excited he is to play with young players on the Bucks. He acknowledged he's one of the veteran leaders on the team now, and he looks forward to "showing them the way" as next season progresses.
Milwaukee is getting a player in Herro who may be playing with a chip on his shoulder next season. He was asked about what it's like to hear his name in trade rumors for multiple seasons. Herro responded with optimism and expressed confidence when talking about the type of player he thinks he is and what he can offer.
The Bucks will look very different next season, and a great season from Tyler Herro could make them a surprise team in the Eastern Conference next season.
