Do the Milwaukee Bucks have the worst starting lineup?

The Milwaukee Bucks no longer have a superstar after trading Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat in exchange for Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kel'el Ware, Kasparas Jakučionis, and multiple first-round picks.

The Bucks are now one of the youngest teams in the league with only two players over the age of 30.

Being a younger team and one without a true superstar means the starting roster isn’t desirable, and Bleacher Report doesn’t exactly believe in the five-man unit that the Bucks will open the year with.

Milwaukee’s starting lineup is projected to feature Ryan Rollins, Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kyle Kuzma, and Myles Turner.

Assessing The Lineup

First, let’s begin with the assumption that the projected starting lineup is the actual starting lineup.

If that’s the case, there is no denying that the starters lack offensive pop and will rely heavily on playing together, with Herro being more of an offensive engine. Defensively, there isn’t a ton to like, and it puts a lot of pressure on Turner to be a rim protector.

It’s always possible that the team brings Kuzma off the bench and decides to start Ousmane Dieng, who provides a bit more flexibility on both ends of the court and has shown flashes of being a well-rounded player.

It’s also possible Jaquez Jr. comes off the bench, a role he’s been comfortable playing throughout his career in Miami, as Miami goes smaller and immediately invests in rookie Brayden Burries, who is highly touted coming out of Arizona and was impressive in Summer League.

While Turner will likely start, Kel’el Ware might be the better option and make the Bucks a more dangerous team on the offensive end.

The Worst Starting Lineup?

While the Bucks starters aren’t exactly scaring any team on either end of the floor, are they actually the worst?

The Sacramento Kings will be trotting out Darius Acuff Jr, Zach LaVine, De’Andre Hunter, Keegan Murray, and Domantas Sabonis. Is that lineup scaring anyone?

The Memphis Grizzlies have Ty Jerome, Cedric Coward, Jerami Grant, Cameron Boozer, and Zach Edey. While there is a lot of potential in that group, they don’t have a scorer on the level of Herro or Rollins, and are putting a lot of pressure on rookie Cameron Boozer.

Milwaukee has proven NBA talent in its starting lineup and a few players who have the ability to get hot on the offensive end. Their defense won’t be good, but neither will the Kings defense. It’s a bad starting lineup. It’s not quite the worst.
