The Milwaukee Bucks are a team that's rebuilding, and after having two picks in the lottery in the 2026 draft, they are hopeful either Brayden Burries or Nate Ament can be a pivotal piece for the franchise moving forward. 

Burries has had an impressive start to his Summer League campaign, and he is showing flashes of being the next great Milwaukee Bucks guard. His playmaking and shooting have stood out so far, making him look like one of the better guards in this draft class. 

In his first game against the Miami Heat, he scored 18 points on 6-15 shooting. It was his least impressive game of the summer, and he's improved since then. His second game saw his highest scoring total, as he scored 26 points. He also showed off his defensive abilities, recording 3 steals and 2 blocks in the game against the Spurs. 

In his most recent game, he continued to show off how complete a player he could become. Burries scored 23 points on 8-15 shooting while recording 8 rebounds and 6 assists. He also had 4 steals and 1 block, showing again he can play on both ends. 

When you compare Brayden Burries' performances to those of the other rookies picked in the lottery, he looks like one of the most complete players. While Summer League games don't always translate to regular-season NBA games, it does feel like the Bucks are seeing what they hoped for in Burries. 

A lot of what Brayden Burries has shown this summer is similar to what he showed while playing for Arizona. He was a player who could take over a game with his shooting, but he also showed he could play on both ends, averaging 1.5 steals per game. 

Burries comes into a situation that will allow him to develop around a mix of younger and veteran talent. If he can continue these types of performances, he can play his way into a pivotal role off the bench or start. 

One interesting part about this Bucks roster is their guard depth. To the surprise of many, they brought back Gary Trent Jr. on a 4-year deal. The Bucks still have Tyler Herro and Ryan Rollins on their roster, and if they don't move one of them elsewhere, it will be interesting to see how they will fit in playing time for all their guards. 

Until then, the Bucks did spend a lottery pick on Brayden Burries, and at some point next season, he will get multiple opportunities to show the coaching staff he could be a long-term piece for them.
