Giannis Antetokounmpo is expected to be dealt in the offseason, but is he really worth what most think he is?

The Milwaukee Bucks have made it clear that they have plans to trade former MVP forward Giannis Antetokounmpo in the near future. Anetokounmpo, 31, is coming off a season in which he averaged 27.6 points per game, 9.8 rebounds, and 5.4 assists in just 36 games.

The task at hand for the Bucks now is to find a trade partner to deal the two-time MVP. While many speculate that the Bucks will get a lot in return for Giannis, an anonymous  Eastern Conference NBA executive believes he won't have as big a market as Milwaukee hopes.

According to a piece by Brian Windhorst of ESPN, the issue for them is that he is not getting any younger, and some think that can play a factor into finding a team willing to give up a haul that fits their standard.

How Durable is Giannis?

While the Bucks forward didn't play very much in 2026, he has played in at least 60 regular-season games since 2021. In that timeframe, he has averaged 30.1 points per game, 11.5 rebounds, and 6.1 assists over a 306-game stretch.

The anonymous executive made the comparison to Clippers forward and two-time Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard. Leonard is 34 and, since 2021, has played in just 222 games, averaging 24.6 points per game, 6.2 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game. He played in 65 games for Los Angeles in the 2025-2026 season, but played in 37 games in 2024-2025.

Who Will End Up Trading For Giannis?

Whoever gets Giannis Antetokounmpo knows that there's a chance he won't be a long-term piece for them going forward, and if there is any team that would be willing to make the move, it will have to be one that is ready to contend for a title in 2026.

While Antetokounmpo will turn 32 years old in December, the longtime Buck has not shown any signs of slowing down. In the last two seasons, he has averaged 29.4 points per game, 11.2 rebounds, and 6.1 assists was selected for the All-Star team in the 2024-2025 season. While he is aging, he has not shown any signs of slowing down and feels he's still fit to compete for a championship as a premier player.

The Miami Heat, Golden State Warriors, and Boston Celtics are some of the teams that have come up in conversation in terms of trading for Antetokounmpo, and now the question is how much those teams would be willing to give up to get the star forward?
