The Bulls and Grizzlies face off in a matchup of teams near the bottom of the standings.
On Saturday night the Chicago Bulls take on the Memphis Grizzlies this season for the second time. This matchup is between two teams that are more concerned with the 2026 NBA Draft Lottery odds more than anything else at this point of the season.
The last Bulls-Grizzlies matchup saw Chicago use a 35-21 fourth quarter to put a feisty, young Grizzlies team away for good. In that same matchup, stellar rookie Cedric Coward racked up 17 points in 24 minutes on 7-13 shooting, but he couldn't match the 29 points (12-22 FG) put up by Matas Buzelis.
Buzelis' 29 points in the last Bulls-Grizzlies matchup was spurred on by 5-13 (38.4%) shooting from the 3-point line. His aggressive shooting from deep has been a constant since the Bulls remade their team at the NBA Trade Deadline. Buzelis is up to 9.3 attempts per game from 3-point range in March. He is only shooting 34.8% on those 9+ attempts from deep, but the fact that he is showing no signs of slowing down is encouraging. He's at 19.7 PPG post-All-Star break and continues to look like a clear-cut first or second scoring option in Chicago. Meanwhile, Josh Giddey is averaging 16 PPG and 12.3 APG over his last 10 contests. His playmaking has been at an elite level as of late, as he also works on limiting his turnovers.
At the time of this writing, the Bulls (29-44) are tied ninth with the Milwaukee Bucks in the lottery standings, while the Grizzlies sit at seventh with a 24-49 record. Coming into this matchup, the Grizzlies have lost five games in a row. Meanwhile, Chicago has lost two games in a row, but both blowout losses.
Will the Bulls be able to pick up a "get right" win on Saturday? Or will Memphis show a surprising amount of fight in a game that many assume they want to lose?
