The Chicago Bulls are widely expected to draft North Carolina forward Caleb Wilson with the fourth overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, assuming the top-three picks are chalk (AJ Dybantsa, Darryn Peterson, Cameron Boozer, in that order).
Wilson, a 6-foot-10 forward who dominated with a high energy playstyle that saw him live in the paint, was recently named as one of the player correspondents for the 2026 NBA Finals.
This is the first time in the history of the NBA Player Correspondents program that draft prospects have been allowed to participate. It will provide an intriguing angle, seeing what the future faces of the league would like to ask the current ones.
Another intriguing wrinkle--obviously not intentional/controllable--is the fact that the NBA Finals features an extremely young squad in the San Antonio Spurs, with a literal rookie (in Dylan Harper) playing a massive role in their NBA Finals run.
Dybantsa and Wilson both will surely have some great questions for Harper, who went from No. 2 pick from Rutgers to 13.1 PPG, 5.3 RPG , and 2.6 APG on 52% shooting from the field over 18 playoff games for the San Antonio Spurs in the blink of an eye.
Caleb Wilson--the aforementioned likely future Chicago Bull--joins Dybantsa, the likely No. 1 pick, as the two draft prospects to be player correspondents despite not having played a single minute yet.
It will be a cool experience for these two, and will also give them an up-close and personal look at the intensity and focus it takes to play at the highest level of NBA basketball. Wilson and Dybantsa join New Orleans duo Jeremiah Fears and Derik Queen, and Rookie of the Year runner up Kon Kneuppel as the player correspondents.
Wilson will start off the run, covering Game 1 of the NBA Finals in San Antonio on Wednesday night.
While Wilson will cover Game 1 of the 2026 NBA Finals, Queen will take Game 2, Fears is covering Game 3, Dybantsa is taking Game 4, and Knueppel will cover Game 5, assuming the series does not end in a sweep.
If Wilson truly is the future of the Chicago Bulls, it will be great for the next Bulls head coach to know that Wilson has soaked in an NBA Finals experience and can hopefully bring the hunger to play on that stage with him to the United Center. Chicago is no stranger to player correspondents, with Matas Buzelis serving as the player correspondent for Game 4 of the 2025 NBA Finals between the Indiana Pacers and Oklahoma City Thunder.
The 2026 NBA Finals begin Wednesday night at 7:30 PM CT on ABC.
